Actress Nur Fazura poses for PETA

Sultry actress, TV Host rings in the New Year by dressing like a snake and making a plea to save their skins.

PETA

In a bold and daring move, actress Nur Fazura poses for PETA in a bid to draw attention to this message: 'Leave wildlife out of your wardrobe.' Wearing body-hugging, head-to-toe fake snakeskin next to the caption "Wearing Exotic Skins Kills. Leave Wildlife Out of Your Wardrobe", Malaysian-Chinese actor, TV host and VJ Nur Fazura appears in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia. PETA and Fazura want shoppers to know that snakes and other exotic animals are skinned alive, beaten to death or killed for their skin in other cruel ways. The stunning ad – the release of which was timed to coincide with the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake – was shot by ace photographer Ah Fai for Sunday Studio, and styling and make-up were done by Ella Sandera. The set was designed by Angie Choo.

"It's no secret: I love fashion. But not when it means the suffering and death of snakes or other animals", says Fazura. "We can all honour the Year of the Snake by never allowing these fascinating animals to become a part of our wardrobes."

Contrary to popular belief, snakes are fascinating animals who rarely pose a threat to humans. Most of the snakes who live near humans are harmless, and snake encounters are rare, thanks to their keen ability to detect vibrations using their bellies and lower jaws. Their forked tongues also act like built-in radar to help them know what's going on around them. To hunt snakes for their skins, hunters invade their homes and trap them in nets. Workers shove skewers up snakes' noses in order to immobilise them. To separate the animals' skins from their organs, workers pump them full of water while they are still conscious and then tear the skins off the living animals' bodies. Snakes can suffer for days before succumbing to shock or dehydration.

Fazura is considered to be one of the most stylish actors in Malaysia. She has appeared in nearly a dozen feature films as well as in many TV series and dramas and has also hosted several TV shows. She was named Best Supporting Actress by Anugerah Skrin in 2010 for her work in the film Pisau Cukur and starred in the 2012 film Bujang Telajak.

The moment I saw this, I seriously thought this was a joke. Like theres some people would like to do a prank on fazura. But when I read the article, I was like...OMG, this is for real.

The font seemed to be...well, not attractive at all. Fazura's face like she has been squeezed. More like superimpose I guess. In other word, it looks a bit funny. How much you guys spend for this ad? This is so not cool.

According to PETAAsiaPacific's official website, "The stunning pic was shot by ace photographer Ah Fai for Sunday Studio. Fazura's striking styling and makeup were done by Ella Sandera, and the set was designed by Angie Choo". Seriously? I agree with what 6009 wrote, it looks like a prank and PETA should try harder. Fortunately, everybody in Malaysia recognises Fazura as a very stylish actress and a fashion trend-setter, let's just hope that fact is sufficient to bring some respectability to this ad. Oh by the way, Fazura is Malaysian-Chinese? Seriously?

Without sounding like a pervert…. Have you guys noticed Nur Fazura’s figure in her pictures.

If you have not go google it now…

She has got some meat in the right places, if you know what I mean… this skinny structure just can’t possibly be her…

Good try guys, but the laugh is on you…
