Negotiate independence?
Britain granted independence and set about putting in place a time frame for independence, what was being negotiated?
As a British citizen I often hear the comment " the strugglle for independence" thrown around, what struggle?
"The only stumbling block for British withdrawel from Malaysia was the attempt by the communist led Chinese to take con****f Malaysia, the British military stayed and fought them and defeated them. After the British military left, the communist rebels again tried to attack and take control but were weakened and failed.
The only negotiable topic was that Britain insisted that any future government represented all racial groups fully and equally in Malaysia.. This promise was given to the British and it is up to Malaysians to decide if this promise was kept by those that were allowed to form an independent government.
I was born a Malaysian, grew up as a Malaysian, proud as a Malaysian and immensely supportive of the "TRUE SPIRIT" of "O****LAYSIA", but the politics of the day treat me like a fool and made me feel as someone much less than a true Malaysian. Perhaps, your question would be better served if it's directed squarely at our politicians; otherwise it hold little meanings to know all those facts ! :(
How Malaysian ? Don't question our national pride and integrity. The politicians claiming to be more elite and more Malaysians should undergo this quiz. Most of all, Malaysian politicians should undergo a lie detector test.
@ Richard-surprised . Absolutely correct. We never fought for Independence, we negotiated.
Tunku, Tun VT Sambantan and Tun Tan Cheng Lock are the signatories to Malaya's Independence.
The 3 major races must be able to co exist and prosper peacefully before the British grant Malaysia Independence. Upon Independence , the British would monitor for subsequent peace in Malaysia among the major ethnic group before a full independence is ceded. Thank God, not a single drop of blood was shed or necessary for Malaya"s Independence. Why the catch phrase " Struggle for Independence " so freely used. It should be re-phrased " Struggle to Keep the Promise" after gaining independence, whi**** most welcome in todays' selfish , dog-eat -dog political scenario.
We cannot deny future generations the fact that created history, just to infuse patriotism or otherwise
Anyway, Truth is never a Twisted Fact. Good Day.
How Malaysian are WE?. It is very clear to me that all of us here, holding MYKaD are. Why is this being questioned. Are we at war and divided, are we taking side and suppose to choose. I am a Malaysia and will always be pround of it even at times have seen injustice.
Be united and true to yourself. You can only become a fool if you choose to be, on one can make you be one.
Politician need to play their game to stay ahead but we don't need to unless you wanna be in politics.
If one is really interested in putting it right or think he or she will do Malaysian any justice then please have it done properly, do form some sort of groups that one can participate and contribute otherwise please don't question anyone "Are you a true Malaysian"
