Stephanie Van Driesen, 28, is reliving her childhood days... she will be playing Dorothy Gale in Pan Production's theatrical piece 'The Wizard of Oz', which opens this April 28. The theatre actress will be playing the lead role in the musical adapted from the original 1939 story, about a girl who gets transported to the land of Oz by a cyclone with her furry friend Toto, and along her journey home, she befriends Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.
This isn't Stephanie's first theatre role; the artiste and holistic therapy practitioner has also played a spy's assistant in Datin Tiara Jacquelina's colourful, slick musical "The Secret Life of Nora".
Born in Petaling Jaya, Stephanie learnt singing, dancing and acting when she grew up, and earned a first class honours degree in Musical Theatre from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore and is a recipient of the college's President's Award upon graduation. But did you know, she's also a budding singer-songwriter? "I pen tunes about healing and self-realisation. I hope to release an album of original songs (hopefully sooner rather than later) that blends contemporary music with spiritual themes," she tells us. What can this gorgeous actress not do?
